Goodness, I am so late with doing this post! It is just the end of the semester, which means I'm practically drowning in projects, tests, and papers - mostly papers. Oh man - the papers. But hey, that's not the point! The point is that I really want to do this post for any one with the desire of blogging every day for a month. This is what I learned from doing Blogtober!
I will have to go ahead and admit that a month of blogging every day has its good and bad moments. Is it something I'd do again? Of course! I'm actually already planning on doing Blogmas, which is blogging every day up to Christmas! Hey, maybe if you find this post helpful, then you can do Blogmas too! :)
One of the first things I learned from Blogtober is how much planning you need to do! I started planning for the first couple days, but began slowing down after the first week. When things were getting kind of crazy in life, it was harder to find time to write and upload blog posts. If I had planned much better, then I most likely would not have missed as many days as I did. So if you take anything from this post, it's to plan, plan, and plan some more!
The second thing is how to take more photos. Taking photos is almost as important as the words you write because it's all apart of the visual experience you're creating. I did notice that posts I had images included in were the posts that did better. If you aren't very confident in your photography skills, then I suggest hopping on Pinterest because I found so many different tips on how to improve my pictures!
Another lesson I learned is to get involved! I am almost one hundred positive that you are not the only one in this boat. There are so many people who are doing things like Blogtober and Blogmas, and they are the perfect ones to talk to. If you're struggling with getting posts up, needing content ideas, or just really wanting to see how others are doing, then it's great to talk to others and maybe even comment on each other's blogs. A great way to do this is to hop on social media, which leads me to my next thing I learned!
The fourth one is to use social media to your advantage! There is always a hashtag of some sort going around, whether it be on Instagram or Twitter. It'll lead you right to people doing the same thing as you! Also, don't be afraid to promote your content on social media because it'll help get your content out to people who may not find your blog otherwise!
One of the last things I learned is just how much fun it is! Being creative, talking to other bloggers, and just enjoying the beauty of what having a blog means. Once you get all the planning down, then it is so enjoyable to write and get out to take photos. Trust me, if you decide to blog every day for whatever reason, you will have tons of fun! :)
