Are You Thinking About Starting a Blog?

34
Blogging seems to be coming and going in waves. It was fairly popular when it first became a thing, then faded a little bit and came back strong in the past couple years. Blogging almost started out as a place for people to just say whatever to the internet without a real reason, but it has now become a place where people go to learn and have fun essentially. There's beauty bloggers, fashions bloggers, lifestyle bloggers, and so much more! Everyone is beginning to want a piece of the blogging cake, and I definitely don't blame them because I was the same way over a year ago!

If one of those people is you and you want to start your own blog, then I have a few tips for you! Now, there are tons of posts about how to get a bigger audience, more views, and all that good stuff, but I want to touch on the essentials of blogging!

1. I would say that if you truly want to blog, then you first need to know why! Why do you want to become a part of this community? Do you have an interest you want to share? Are you looking for another creative outlet? If you have an answer as to why, then that is an excellent start because if you don't have a reason for starting this, then is there any point? Also, if your main reason is to make money, then may I suggest a different source [just a suggestion :)]. I do believe that having a reason why will help you stay motivated and keep moving forward!

2. Now that you know why you want to blog, you should do your research! Before you even get into blogger and make your account, research, research and research some more. You need to know what it takes to be a blogger. I'm in no way saying that you need to find the magical equation to make yourself the most popular blogger on the internet. I just mean that blogging takes a bit of work to get used to, so looking up the best ways to blog for beginners will really help in the long run.

3. When you finally write your first post and are about to press publish, don't be scared! I think I wrote about three or four different posts before I actually published one, when I could have just risked it and published the first one I wrote. Also, never take down your work because you don't think it's good enough. I have been blogging since last January, yet I still don't think I'm good enough. That is definitely not stopping me from blogging anyways. Take risks and don't let anyone scare you!

4. Lastly, the most important advice I could give anyone is to be yourself! Never try to be something you think will bring you the biggest audience, because people can tell when you're being someone you're not. I tried to be a beauty/fashion type blogger [which did NOT turn out well], and it wasn't until a few months ago, I realized I wasn't being me and needed to do posts I genuinely had fun writing. The internet is full of wacky and crazy people, so if you're wacky and crazy, then let that shine through in your blog posts! Blogging will become a lot more fun and trust me when I say that the blogging community is much more accepting than you would think! :)

I really hope some of these tips helped out any of you who might be thinking about blogging but haven't taken that plunge yet! It's such an amazing thing to become a part of and highly suggest it! You will definitely love it! :)

♥ always,
Kelsey
